Am I in a John Candy Movie? Seriously.

I have all kinds of awesome things to blog about-Christmas, New Years, our trip to Moses Lake to see our awesome friends... but I haven't had a chance to upload all of the pictures and write about it since I was trying to finalize a bunch of stuff for work before the new legislative session started. And now that things have slowed down with work, I've been bombarded with a series of events that leaves me scratching my head and wondering what the heck I did to piss off the gods.

It started Sunday night... Sunshine was up all night crying and totally inconsolable. The only thing that comforted her was letting her sleep on my chest- a nearly impossible feat while six months pregnant with raging heartburn, but it made her feel better. I had a doctors appointment the next morning, which I ended up being an hour late to because I couldn't find my purse ANYWHERE, and then it showed up in plain sight and I wondered if I was losing my mind. In the waiting room at the Doctors, Sunshine threw an enormous tantrum and somehow my checkbook managed to escape my purse. On the way out, thankfully, I found it again. Then...  I attempted to take the kids to Chipotle so Apollo could have something in his stomach before I had to drop him off to preschool. You know the lady with the screaming kids who fling food at restaurants and who you roll your eyes at? I was THAT lady. And in my attempt to get the kids out of there, I left my purse on the chair in the booth we were sitting in. Thank goodness some kind soul chased me out of the restaurant and handed it to me. I could have kissed her I was so appreciative.

I got Apollo off to preschool just fine, but on my way home I got pulled over and was given my first speeding ticket. Well, technically my second, but the first one was never on my record since it was out of state about ten years ago. My spotless record has been tarnished...

I also took Sunshine to the walk-in-clinic and found out she has an ear infection and the beginning of bronchitis. Poor kid! So after two doctors appointments, a grocery trip, and a pharmacy trip, I got the kids home. We ate dinner and got everyone to sleep and I thought "Thank the lord that tomorrow is another day!"

Well- today was even more... fun. I'll just cut and paste what I wrote on facebook- 1 a.m.- Sunshine barfs on me in bed. We clean it up and bathe her and comfort her back to sleep. 4 a.m.- Apollo comes into bed, barfs on me, and we clean it up again and bathe him. Sometimes, being a mom is really, really gross. Pretty sure tonight could have been featured on an episode of "Dirty Jobs."

It was gross. I dry heaved- A LOT. Cameron was out flinging barf chunks off of our sheets and into our lawn at four a.m. After last night, I'm pretty sure I am never making taco soup ever again- it looks exactly the same after being partially digested.Yet, somehow, amongst all of the disgusting stuff, there were some pretty awesome moments of humor. Perhaps we were delirious from sleep deprivation, or just low on oxygen from all of the toxic fumes, but I'm pretty sure we could make a stand-up routine that would make us millions using the material we came up with last night in bed. I remember thinking "I am so glad that I have someone to laugh about this with. It almost makes it worth it. Almost."

Cameron went to work today. Apollo has refused to eat anything and Sunshine has been clingy and miserable and refuses to sleep. I finally hit my limit at around 4 p.m. and put her in her crib and went and laid on my bed. I listened to her cry for a few minutes, but her crying eventually faded to babbling as I drifted into a fog of half-sleep, half awake. Then I heard an enormous crash and shattering sounds come from her bedroom. I sprinted out of bed to find that she had, somehow, moved her crib halfway across the room (while still in it) and pulled down her heavy wooden dresser, which had our printer and her ceramic piggy bank on top of it. Glass and pennies everywhere. I don't know how she managed it. She never ceases to amaze me with her talent at destroying things.

Cameron just walked through the door. I'm going to go hide from the children now.

Oh My! And you wonder why we keep having these destructive little creatures. There is a reason why God makes kids cute. And yours are extra cute, so I guess you're in for it ;)
I think Cameron should take a day off so that you can have a day off. Good luck!

I am so sorry! This makes me tired just reading it! Hopefully Sunshine gets better soon, and easier, healthier days are ahead.

HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaa!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!HAHAHA!! (this is my wide-eyed crazy laugh)

It's times like these that we'll treasure forever. I'm glad you blog about this stuff so we can come back again and again and laugh our butts off.

It's also times like these that remind me how much God loves us and how much faith he must have in us.

Ugh Rory! That's horrible. Seriously. We went through that flu New Years week. I hope you didn't get it from me when we saw you at Target. :( I hope everything is doing much better now. Life is not a happy place when the home smells of vomit. And dry heaving? Makes me yell to the gods very bad words. Grr.
