Camping adventures!

We went camping. With a four-year-old, an almost two-year-old and a four month old. And we survived! We joined our old Greenwood ward for their annual campout at the Boundy Farm on Bainbridge Island.

We took a ferry from Seattle:

We showed up at dusk, set up our tent, and ate lots of marshmallows. I woke up in the middle of night covered in pee from Phoenix's leaky diaper. It was gross.

Sunshine practiced being a cheerleader.

The kids went on "horsey rides" and Sunshine hasn't stopped asking for one ever since.

Only Cameron can manage to make a horse look small...

And... we rode on a zip line. This involved crossing a fallen tree over a creek, hiking up a trail of stinging nettles, climbing up the side of a tree onto a tiny platform, and jumping off and flying three football fields worth through the air, then dismounting from a giant ladder. I was scared. Apollo was awesome.

We also had fun helping with a service project cleaning up a yard that was covered in blackberry and Ivy.

On our way home, we managed to drive smack through the Seattle "Hemp Fest." We saw the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, lots of dread locks and smelled all kinds of, ahem, interesting smells. Everyone seemed very "happy".

I'd say it was a success for our first time camping as a family of five- other than the waking up in the cold night covered in pee part. I love summer!

We smelt those interesting "smells" too. I'm sure covered in Campfire smoke we would've fit right in

That looks like a ton of fun! I cannot believe Sunshine just hanging out, up there so high. Can't wait to see you guys soon.

Sounds like you had a great time! I love the pictures of Cameron and Sunshine doing her "cheerleading" so cute!

Those photos of Sunshine as a cheerleader are so funny! They almost look fake.
